We've put together a few of the most frequently asked questions about Life or Debt.
Anyone who wants to learn more about managing their money!
Whether you're starting out or starting over, rich or poor, young or old, experienced or beginner, this course will help with information and tips to get a better handle on your money.
Unfortunately, less than half of our nation's high schools teach the practical knowledge we need to manage our household finances. And even if you did learn these things in school, a refresher never hurts.
You'll learn how to set goals, create a financial plan to achieve them, set up a budget, shop for insurance, improve your credit score, find help when you need it, and a whole lot more.
You must be registered for the course by a certified credit counselor who has previously established a relationship with Life or Debt. Contact your local consumer credit counseling organization and request Life or Debt.
The video itself runs about the length of the typical movie. But unlike a movie, Life or Debt strongly suggests that you do some "homework" like reviewing outside websites, setting up a spending plan, etc. So plan on spending a few hours with us.
Life or Debt fulfills the U.S. DOJ's EOUST requirements for Pre-Discharge Bankruptcy Education. If you're here because you're filing a bankruptcy, upon completion you'll get the necessary certificate from the credit counseling agency that registered you.
Yes, in order to complete the course you must completely watch every chapter.
We encourage it! If you watch a chapter and don't feel confident that you've learned the information, watch it again. And if you miss the answers to any chapter review questions, that's a strong signal that you should watch the chapter again.
You will be give two tests, a Pre and Post-Test. The Pre-Test is given when you first log-in to Life or Debt, before you've watched anything. This is to assess your current financial knowledge and will not be factored into your successfully passing this course. The Post-Test will become available to you once you have spent a minimum of 2 hours within the virtual classroom and watched every chapter. It is the final test, and will be used to judge your passing or failing of this course. Take your time, answer every question, and good luck!
The post test will become available to you once you have viewed each chapter and accumulated at least 2 hours of time in the classroom.
We take very strict measures to protect your privacy. We will never sell any information received about you. See our privacy policy for more details.
Your scores will be sent via e-mail to your credit counselor immediately after completing the course.
